What do you buy as a christening gift?
Any ideas for christening gifts if you don't know the family very well. Also, if you can't make the christening, should you still send a gift?

- In the UK? Copy of newspaper printed on the Christening day; Coin minted in the year christening took place; commemorative postage stamps. It's polite to send a small gift if you can't make the christening.
- Some thing like a 'my first tooth' or 'my first curl' box. a photo frame or money box always goes down well. if you've been invited i would get a small gift if you can't attend.
- You can buy something usual like something made out of silver like a baby photo frame or egg cup and spoon or if you dont know them very well buy them a voucher or something.
- A Savings Bond is always a safe bet. You can buy a denomination for less than it will be worth and it will grow to maturity as the baby gets older. Also, The child can't grow out of it.
- You can give a photo album. Babies usually have a lot of pictures.
- Clothing is always welcome. You dont have to give a gift if you dont go...as you dont know the family well ~
